About us
The Department of Mathematics at UCL is internationally renowned within one of the world’s most prestigious universities. Since its founding, the department has produced outstanding staff and students, including Fields Medal winners Klaus Roth, Alan Baker, and Tim Gowers.

- Around 80 academic members of staff, with 38 full professors.
- Approximately 30 postdoctoral research fellows.

Research groups cover a wide spectrum, from pure and applied analysis to fluid mechanics, mathematical physics, topology, number theory, and modelling across biology, finance, industry, and society.
About the role
The Teaching & Learning Administrator will provide professional administrative support for the Department’s MSc programmes, including:
- MSc in Financial Mathematics.
- MSc in Mathematical Modelling.
- A new MSc in Mathematics (launching September 2026).
Key responsibilities:
- Specialist administration of designated teaching programmes.
- Supporting student engagement monitoring for PGT students.
- Ensuring smooth and effective teaching and learning processes from enquiry to completion.
- Coordinating assessment, records, and student-facing events.
- Working closely with Programme Directors, Admissions Tutors, and the wider Teaching & Learning Team (4 Administrators + 2 Senior Administrators).
The role is available from 1 September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
About you
Essential criteria include:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including Maths and English, or equivalent experience.
- Strong administrative experience in a busy office, ideally within higher/further education.
- Knowledge of course/programme administration and online learning environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
- Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage high volumes of work, meet deadlines, and handle student-facing events.
- Willingness to learn new systems (e.g., UCL’s Portico).
- Commitment to excellent service delivery and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI).
Desirable criteria:
- A-level education or equivalent experience.
- Previous HE administrative experience.
- Ability to use web publishing software (e.g., Moodle).
