Overview
As a senior member of the School Professional Services Leadership Team, you will oversee the management and strategic direction of the School’s operations. The role focuses on delivering agile, high-quality service provision, enhancing service excellence, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment. You will lead the design and development of a proactive and resilient operations service aligned with the School’s core activities. This includes overseeing administration, policy development, communication strategies, and coordination with support teams across the School, College, and University. The role is instrumental in driving continuous improvement and supporting University-wide change programmes. This post reports directly to the Head of Professional Services.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and development of operations services across the School to enhance staff and student experience.
- Lead and direct teams delivering operational support, communications, and executive administration, ensuring clear objectives and continuous improvement.
- Monitor service performance using analytical insight to identify improvement opportunities and contribute to transformation initiatives.
- Build strong collaborative networks across the University to share best practice and remove barriers to performance.
- Work with Estates and IT partners to ensure facilities and digital systems are fit for purpose, planning cost-efficient improvements and leading related projects.
- Partner with HR to improve services related to recruitment, onboarding, induction, probation, and other people-related processes.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire safety, data protection, FOI, wellbeing and Equality & Diversity policies.
- Lead business continuity and risk management planning.
- Deputise for the Head of Professional Services as required.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential Knowledge/Qualifications
- Degree/SVQ Level 4 or equivalent (SCQF 9).
- Knowledge of governance and business processes in complex organisations.
- Knowledge of Lean/Process Improvement methodologies.
- Broad financial management and analytics knowledge.
- Understanding of risk management frameworks.
- Knowledge of estates and facilities planning.
Desirable
- Understanding of the Higher Education sector.
- Knowledge of budgetary control frameworks.

Terms and Conditions
- Salary: Grade 7, £41,064–£46,049 per annum
- Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)
- Contract: Permanent
