Speechmatics is hiring a Software Engineer – Data & AI to help build and scale the data pipelines powering their cutting-edge speech intelligence models. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, engineering, and research—perfect for someone passionate about real-world AI applications.
Salary
£80,000 – £110,000 per year (depending on experience)

What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and maintain scalable web scraping solutions
- Build high-performance data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage
- Ensure data quality through validation, cleaning, and normalisation
- Manage data infrastructure across databases and cloud storage
- Optimise scraping scripts and pipelines for speed, reliability, and scalability
- Monitor and troubleshoot workflow performance
- Identify new opportunities to source or generate datasets
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations
- Collaborate with ML Engineers to deliver richer data at bigger scale and lower cost
- Shape the data roadmap with the ML team and leadership
Who We’re Looking For
- Extensive experience in software/data engineering
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Hands-on experience with web scraping and modern scraping frameworks
- Professional experience with a major cloud provider
- Knowledge of ETL pipelines and data workflows
- Exposure to machine learning data processes
- Familiarity with data compliance standards and privacy-preserving methods
- Experience with on-prem infrastructure
