Salary: £180,000 – £200,000 per year

Overview

As the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), you will lead and shape the enterprise-wide security strategy for a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation. You will ensure the protection of products, services, systems, and data while navigating a rapidly evolving digital and AI-driven threat landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead enterprise security strategy and risk policy aligned to business priorities.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across security and data protection.
  • Deliver security awareness programmes and business continuity frameworks.
  • Define and lead projects to reduce security exposure.
  • Monitor and report on emerging cyber threats and developments, including AI.
  • Manage vendor relationships and major fraud/malpractice investigations.
  • Drive secure adoption of new technologies and innovation.
  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams.

About You

Ideal candidates should demonstrate:

  • Deep expertise in identifying and mitigating IT and data security threats.
  • Strong understanding of modern technologies and cyber-risk strategies.
  • Experience in regulated environments (education, finance, healthcare, etc.).
  • Desirable certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex security issues for non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic, analytical, and commercially aware mindset.
  • Innovative approach with resilience under pressure.
