Overview

Leeds City Council is seeking a dynamic and motivated Graduate Trainee – Digital (Data Analysis) to join the Office of Data Analytics within the Integrated Digital Services team. This role provides hands-on experience in the end-to-end delivery of digital analysis, from data extraction and engineering to business intelligence and actionable insights for decision-makers.

You will gain exposure to real-world digital projects in local government, contributing to service improvements and innovation while receiving mentorship, training, and the opportunity to work towards industry-standard certifications.

Hybrid working is available, but candidates are expected to spend at least three days per week in the Leeds office for the first six months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to projects transforming ways of working and digital service delivery.
  • Collaborate with IT professionals and internal stakeholders to implement digital solutions.
  • Analyse corporate data to inform decision-making and policy development.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of digital platforms and tools.
  • Support cyber security initiatives and protect sensitive information.
  • Gather and document requirements to ensure digital solutions meet user needs.
  • Monitor project progress and contribute to digital strategy and frameworks.
  • Participate in mentorship and training activities, providing support to peers and apprentices.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English and Maths, or equivalent.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification; experience in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, Cyber, AI, or related fields is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of IT and data systems, with adaptability to new technologies.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Understanding of financial and council-wide decision-making processes.
  • Basic understanding of IT systems, networks, and Microsoft technologies.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365.
  • Experience in public sector environments.
  • Familiarity with digital transformation projects and Agile methodologies.
