Application Support Analyst – NWSSP Legal & Risk Services (Cardiff, Wales)
Job Overview
NWSSP is seeking an Application Support Analyst to support and develop key applications and services used across Primary Care Services. You will ensure systems perform to the required standards for users and clinicians while working within ITIL best-practice frameworks. Applicants may apply in Welsh or English. Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clinicians, managers, and end-users.
- Provide professional support, training, and timely responses to user queries.
- Diagnose and resolve issues using first principles and past experience.
- Collaborate with NHS staff across organisations to resolve faults.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of national applications and related clinical/business processes.
- Ensure problems and faults are resolved effectively and to customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience
- ITIL V3 Foundation or equivalent knowledge
- Strong understanding of Service Provision standards
Desirable
- ISEB Foundation in Enabled Business Change
Experience
Essential
- Extensive IT service delivery and support experience
- Proven 2nd-line support track record
Desirable
- Experience in NHS, healthcare, or public sector
- Understanding of NHS clinical/administrative requirements
- Knowledge of health systems and industry best practice
Skills & Abilities
Essential
- Strong problem, change, and release management skills
- Basic understanding of software engineering
- SQL experience including Transact-SQL
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to continuously learn new technologies and healthcare practices
Desirable
- Advanced ITIL service management skills
