Care Support Worker (CSWD25)

Carmel College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Support Worker to support students with physical disabilities and medical needs in a caring, inclusive and values-driven environment.
Overview

The successful candidate will play a central role in providing daily care and medical support to students, ensuring dignity, safety and inclusion at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise weekly with the SENCO regarding student support
- Act as the first point of contact for relevant external agencies
- Provide daily personal care support including mobility, toileting, washing, feeding and showering, including hoist use following risk assessment
- Administer prescribed medication, ensuring correct storage and accurate record-keeping
- Maintain student medical records and Medical Administration Records confidentially
- Support student arrival and departure and manage changes in mobility arrangements
- Assist students to access external activities organised by the College where required
- Support visiting professionals including physiotherapists, speech and occupational therapists
- Maintain hygiene standards in the Medical and First Aid Rooms
- Manage first aid supplies, monthly checks and defibrillator inspections
- Act as a First Aider and support emergency aid procedures
- Attend meetings, training sessions and mandatory college events
- Assist with College Open Evenings and Consultation Evenings
- Adhere to all Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity and College policies
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role as required
Contract and Salary Information
- Contract: Established, 36 hours per week, term time only
- Salary: Point 12–14 (£29,544–£31,324 FTE)
- Actual Salary: £23,748.83 – £25,179.68 per annum, depending on experience
- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Closing Date: 12 noon, Friday 9 January 2026
