Summary
The Infrastructure AI and Data Program is a strategic initiative designed to transform how data is managed, governed, and leveraged across Bechtel’s Global Business Unit. As digital capabilities expand across complex engineering and delivery environments, effective data utilization is essential to enabling advanced analytics, AI-driven insights, and collaboration.
This execution-focused role supports data ingestion, transformation, and quality processes under the guidance of senior data engineers and the Data Solutions Architect. The Junior Data Engineer will help ensure data is accurate, timely, and accessible for analytics and reporting while developing modern data engineering skills.
This role follows Bechtel’s global telework policy and requires at least three days per week of in-person attendance at the London office.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain ETL and ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from multiple sources into the UDP environment
- Collaborate with data solutions architects and subject matter experts to deliver business-aligned data solutions
- Implement data quality checks and validation routines to ensure dataset integrity and consistency
- Optimize data workflows for performance and scalability within Azure Databricks
- Document data engineering processes and contribute to team best practices
- Support analytics and reporting through reliable and accessible data delivery
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Experience in data engineering or a related technical role
- Proficiency in SQL
- Experience using Python or Scala for data processing
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, preferably Azure
- Understanding of data modeling concepts and ETL/ELT workflows
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Exposure to Databricks or Spark-based environments
- Experience with data governance tools and best practices
- JavaScript full-stack experience, including MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of version control systems such as Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Awareness of EPC industry data structures and standards
