The Role

As a Full Stack Software Engineer within one of our OpenAthens development scrum teams, you will help enhance products that provide secure, seamless access for millions of users worldwide. You’ll work across front-end and back-end development, contributing to high-quality, scalable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong knowledge of OpenAthens products, development processes, and technical environments
  • Collaborate with developers, testers, product owners, and technical stakeholders
  • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Ensure work meets agreed quality standards (Definition of Done)
  • Contribute to continuous team and product improvements
  • Continuously develop your technical and professional skills
  • Build strong working relationships across teams

What We’re Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale applications
  • Strong Java backend development skills
  • Experience with Java API frameworks such as Spring Boot or Jersey
  • Front-end development experience using Angular or React
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, high-quality code
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Motivation to continuously learn and adapt

Desirable

  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience

Hybrid Working

This role follows a hybrid working model. Office attendance is flexible and agreed with your manager. Occasional travel to Jisc hub offices may be required.
