About the Role
The Salvation Army Youth and Community Centre in Aston, Birmingham, provides a wide range of activities and support for local young people, including schools work, one-to-one mentoring, detached projects, music production qualifications, afterschool drop-in clubs, sports coaching, and youth Bible studies.
We work closely with local schools, police, churches, and other community organisations. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on making a lasting difference in the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide cover for the Assistant Youth Worker role on an as-required basis
- Support the delivery of existing youth work programmes for young people aged 7–25
- Work with young people and engage with their families where appropriate
- Respond flexibly to short-notice requests, including sickness and holiday cover
Person Specification
The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate:
- A passion for working with young people and the wider community
- Willingness to learn and develop relevant skills
- Ability to work respectfully within diverse cultural settings
- Sympathy with The Salvation Army’s Christian principles and aims
- Flexibility to work at short notice
Additional Information
- Appointment is subject to satisfactory references
- Proof of right to work in the UK is required
- Enhanced DBS disclosure (child workforce, including barred list) is mandatory
