Overview
The Underwriter Associate CL-I delivers high-quality, concierge-level service to insureds and agents by supporting the full workers’ compensation policy lifecycle. This role manages a high volume of calls, emails, and chats while handling complex billing, audits, renewals, and policy servicing with accuracy, professionalism, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Agent Support
- Handle high-volume inbound calls, emails, and chats related to workers’ compensation policies
- Respond to inquiries on billing, audits, renewals, cancellations, and reinstatements
- Provide policy documentation, endorsements, and status updates
- Address general workers’ compensation coverage questions within authority
- Route claims inquiries to the appropriate adjusters and resources
Policy Processing & Account Management
- Process new business and renewal policies (voluntary and assigned risk)
- Review payroll, classifications, endorsements, and billing accuracy
- Maintain clear, compliant documentation and audit trails
- Proactively follow up on outstanding service requests across teams
Compliance, Quality & Improvement
- Ensure all servicing activities meet regulatory and carrier guidelines
- Maintain high accuracy while multitasking in a fast-paced environment
- Identify trends or service gaps and escalate for continuous improvement
- Participate in training and cross-functional collaboration
Claims Coordination
- Provide adjuster contact details and claims-related guidance
- Accurately document claim inquiries and communications
Required Experience & Skills
Experience
- 3–5 years in the workers’ compensation insurance industry
- Call center or high-volume customer service experience (preferred)
- Experience handling customer inquiries via chat
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with ImageRight or similar management systems
- Ability to use standard office equipment
