Overview
Practice Plus Group is seeking a professional and patient-focused Part-Time Receptionist to join a 4-person reception team. You will act as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a calm, welcoming, and courteous environment while supporting the operational functions of the hospital.
The role requires flexibility across rotating shifts and occasional weekend work.
Working Hours
- 30 hours per week, across 4 days on rotation
- Shift patterns:
- 6am – 2pm
- 8am – 4pm
- 1pm – 9pm
- Maximum of 2 Saturdays per month
- 4-hour shifts between 6am – 6pm
Key Responsibilities
- Meet and greet patients, visitors, and staff professionally
- Act as the first point of contact in line with patient-centred service standards
- Answer telephone calls from patients, GP surgeries, and hospital staff
- Record patient attendance using hospital computer systems
- Process patient discharge summaries and update clinical systems
- Contact patients regarding cataract surgery attendance times
- Maintain the “Did Not Attend (DNA)” register and follow-up procedures
- Ensure reception opening and closing procedures are followed
- Process daily incoming and outgoing mail
- Maintain car parking pass allocation records
- Support administrative functions when required
- Work flexibly across shifts, including evenings and weekends
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong telephone and customer service skills
- Good IT and keyboard skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office packages
- Familiarity with Patient Administration Systems or equivalent
- Attention to detail and ability to remain calm in difficult situations
- Good written and spoken English
- Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs
- Satisfactory Occupational Health clearance
- Satisfactory DBS/CRB clearance
- Legal right to work in the UK
