Overview
Moorfields Eye Hospital is seeking a proactive and detail-focused Information Governance Officer (Band 5) to join its Information Governance (IG) team.
The post holder will support the Trust’s Information Governance strategy, ensuring compliance with data protection legislation, information security standards, and statutory requirements. This role is ideal for someone looking to build or develop a career in information governance within the NHS.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for Information Governance and Data Protection enquiries
- Manage and process Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests
- Support compliance with the Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
- Deliver data security and information governance awareness training
- Maintain IG records, logs, and information asset registers
- Support audits and investigations relating to information governance incidents
- Assist with data flow mapping, DPIAs, and information asset management
- Organise and support Information Governance Committee meetings, including minute-taking
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to the IG team
- Deputise for the Information Governance Compliance Officer when required
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- First degree or equivalent experience in an Information Governance role
- Experience working in information governance, compliance, or a related governance area
- Experience undertaking audits
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018
- Understanding of the Data Security & Protection Toolkit
