 Overview

The Grid Automation and Controls group at NLR focuses on enhancing power system modernization through cutting-edge AI/ML solutions. This internship offers 3–12 months of hands-on experience with potential remote or onsite work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on research projects
  • Developing innovative AI/LLM solutions for power system challenges
  • Contributing to and/or leading research publications
  • Conducting independent research work

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Undergraduate or graduate enrollment, or recent graduate (within 12 months) in:
    • Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Knowledge of neural networks, ML algorithms, and AI fundamentals
  • Self-motivated and passionate about learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with reinforcement learning or graph neural networks
  • High-performance computing & Linux systems
  • JavaScript, SQL, MongoDB, and interactive dashboards
  • Familiarity with power systems and power flow basics
