Overview
The Grid Automation and Controls group at NLR focuses on enhancing power system modernization through cutting-edge AI/ML solutions. This internship offers 3–12 months of hands-on experience with potential remote or onsite work.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on research projects
- Developing innovative AI/LLM solutions for power system challenges
- Contributing to and/or leading research publications
- Conducting independent research work
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Undergraduate or graduate enrollment, or recent graduate (within 12 months) in:
- Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
- Strong Python programming skills
- Knowledge of neural networks, ML algorithms, and AI fundamentals
- Self-motivated and passionate about learning
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with reinforcement learning or graph neural networks
- High-performance computing & Linux systems
- JavaScript, SQL, MongoDB, and interactive dashboards
- Familiarity with power systems and power flow basics
