Job Description
NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) is seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Digital Officer (CDO) to lead the digital transformation across NHS Wales. This is a senior leadership role that drives innovation, efficiency, and quality through technology and data.
As the CDO, you will shape and deliver the NWSSP Digital Strategy, aligning with NHS Wales and ministerial priorities. You’ll lead digital teams managing infrastructure, data governance, AI, cybersecurity, and more — modernising services for maximum impact across health and care in Wales.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Digital Strategy
- Lead digital innovation, transformation, and platform delivery
- Embed data-driven decision-making across services
- Modernise IT infrastructure with cloud, AI, automation
- Foster strong relationships with NHS Wales stakeholders and partners
- Ensure digital governance, security, and compliance

Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in ICT or equivalent experience
- Postgraduate management/leadership development
- In-depth knowledge of digital leadership in NHS/public sector
- Proven track record delivering large-scale digital change
- Experience at national, regional, and local digital service delivery levels
Desirable: NHS or public sector experience, Welsh language skills (levels 1–5)

Application Information
- Welsh applications are welcome and treated equally
- Living wage top-up: £12.60/hr or £24,638/year (Bands 2 and 3) until 2025/26 pay review
- This role may require a DBS check
- UK or ROI nationals require Skilled Worker or Health & Care Visa sponsorship if not otherwise eligible
