Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our dedicated team in Doncaster. This is a full-time, permanent position ideal for someone with experience in primary or urgent care settings.
Minimum Requirements:
- Phlebotomy
- Blood pressure checks
- Wound dressing experience
Desirable Experience:
- Working in a GP surgery
- Experience in Accident & Emergency
We are willing to offer training in more advanced areas for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct new patient health checks
- Undertake diabetic reviews (including blood tests, foot checks, and referrals)
- Assist with health promotion programmes
- Carry out baseline observations (pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate)
- Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring
- Provide wound care and dressing
- Support management of chronic disease clinics
- Conduct BMI checks
- Serve as a chaperone when required
- Administer flu vaccinations (after training)
- Manage specimen documentation and dispatch
- Assist with minor operations
- Maintain and stock clinical rooms and fridges as per guidelines
- Ensure proper disposal of clinical waste and sharps
- Conduct occasional home visits for flu vaccinations or reviews
- Promote opportunistic health advice
- Perform ECGs
- Participate in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) audits
- Support local healthcare initiatives
- Engage in shared learning sessions
- Be involved in extended access service provision
- Carry out opening and closing procedures
Training & Development
We welcome applicants currently undertaking or interested in Nurse Associate training. We support development pathways for HCAs wishing to progress to this level.
