Overview

We are currently seeking a Junior Analyst to join our team in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Planning and Exercise Division. This role will enhance FEMA’s enterprise planning through data-driven insights, emergency policy evaluation, and development of digital tools.

 Responsibilities

  • Apply social science research and evaluation methods to emergency management.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Support database management, data formatting, and cleaning.
  • Develop visualizations, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Use programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Java) for analysis or basic web tasks.
  • Maintain and support large-scale data environments (MySQL, MongoDB).
  • Collaborate with analysts, planners, and stakeholders to design evaluations.
  • Conduct literature reviews and contribute to technical reports and documentation.
  • Assist in integrating data science into FEMA’s planning workflows.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience applying research/evaluation methods in policy or emergency management.
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, Java, SAS, SPSS).
  • Experience with databases or web development.
  • Must hold or be eligible for a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred:

  • FEMA or federal emergency management experience.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools.
  • Understanding of emergency management doctrines and preparedness frameworks.
  • Experience in planning/evaluation within government or academic settings.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $65,000 – $95,000 annually
