Salary: £24,937 – £26,598 pro rata per annum
Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week (Fully rotational)
Contract: Permanent

Job Description

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking caring, enthusiastic, and motivated Healthcare Assistants to join our Integrated Medicine and Emergency Care division.

You will work alongside nursing and medical teams, providing high-quality patient care and receiving full training in skills such as:

  • Clinical observations
  • Venepuncture (blood sampling)
  • ECGs
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Simple wound dressings

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living tasks including personal hygiene, oral intake, and escorts to procedures
  • Maintain high standards of nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Accurately update patient care records (written and electronic)
  • Support safe admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in audits and improvement projects
  • Supervise and support junior staff or students when required

Essential Requirements

  • Completion of the NHS Care Certificate or relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3 (or willingness to complete within 3 months)
  • Knowledge and/or experience of personal care and related procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills with empathy and tact
  • Flexible and adaptable to the needs of the service

Desirable:

  • IT qualification
  • Experience in patient handling and using moving aids
  • Involvement in improvement projects or audits

Assessment Process

If shortlisted, you will be invited to attend a face-to-face assessment centre in early September. This will last approximately 3 hours and include:

  • Aptitude test
  • Practical task
  • Group activity
  • Informal interview
