The Role: Technical Professional – Desktop Team
As part of the Desktop Team, you will provide 1st and 2nd line IT support to end users both onsite and remotely. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of Liverpool City Council’s IT systems and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for Windows 10/11 environments
- Install, configure, and maintain PCs, printers, and peripherals
- Support Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online)
- Administer Omnissa VDI (formerly VMware Horizon)
- Manage user accounts and security in Active Directory & Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Perform basic network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Record and track support requests via internal ticketing system
- Collaborate with senior IT staff on system updates and security
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in desktop or IT support roles
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 troubleshooting
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 services
- Familiarity with Omnissa VDI or other VDI solutions
- Knowledge of Active Directory and account management
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, or equivalent (desirable)
