About the Role
We’re looking for a Data Analyst to join StepChange Debt Charity. This role combines data governance expertise with cloud-native innovation, helping to shape scalable solutions in hybrid environments.
You’ll be responsible for turning complex data models into actionable insights using Python, AWS, SQL, ETL pipelines, and open standards (XML, JSON, YAML). Working with architects and agile feature teams, you’ll design and maintain data architectures, build and manage our data catalogue and data dictionary, and strengthen data management practices across the organisation.
You will also play a key role in data governance—supporting the Data Protection Officer, developing audit-ready documentation, improving data quality pipelines, and embedding strong data practices across the charity.
Key Responsibilities
- Map data flows across the organisation, from capture to transformation.
- Support architects in agile teams on data movement, migration, and integration.
- Build and maintain the organisation’s data catalogue and data dictionary.
- Develop data quality pipelines and toolchains to tackle issues proactively.
- Contribute to governance processes, policies, and forums.
About You
- Strong background in relational databases, SQL, and data integration.
- Skilled in data modelling techniques (UML, ER, Object-Oriented).
- Familiar with cloud-native environments (ideally AWS).
- Hands-on experience with Python, XML, JSON, YAML, and open-source tools.
- Comfortable working in agile teams and translating technical outputs into clear, useful documentation.
- Curious, collaborative, and passionate about improving data practices.
