Overview
The Generative AI Innovation Center at AWS helps global customers harness cutting-edge AI to unlock transformative opportunities. Our multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and architects collaborates with enterprises to fine-tune and scale generative AI applications, while optimizing performance on AWS’s custom AI silicon (Inferentia & Trainium).
As a Machine Learning Engineer (MLE), you will:
- Fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) across languages, domains, and modalities.
- Build scalable, distributed training pipelines.
- Optimize models for AWS accelerators.
- Partner with customers and foundational model providers to deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement distributed training pipelines (FSDP, DeepSpeed, etc.)
- Adapt LLMs for new domains using fine-tuning, continued pre-training, and RLHF
- Optimize models for deployment on AWS Inferentia & Trainium using Neuron SDK and custom kernels
- Collaborate with enterprise customers to co-develop tailored AI solutions
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years professional software development experience (non-internship)
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (Java, C++, or C#)
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, scaling, and reliability
- Hands-on experience with deep learning / machine learning (training, fine-tuning, inference)
- Experience with generative AI technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
- 2+ years of experience with the full software development lifecycle (coding standards, reviews, source control, testing, operations)
- Experience deploying or optimizing ML models using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar frameworks
- Familiarity with AWS tools and distributed systems
