Overview
We are recruiting Domestic Assistants to join our team at North Manchester General Hospital. In this role, you will deliver a full and comprehensive cleaning service to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
This is a cleaning role within healthcare settings (not a nursing assistant role). As the hospital operates 7 days per week, successful candidates will also work bank holidays, including Christmas.
Available Shifts
- Nights: 22.5 hrs (Fri–Sun, 10pm–6am)
 - Weekday Days: Full-time (37.5 hrs, Mon–Fri, 7am–3pm) + other part-time variations (20–35 hrs)
 - Weekday Evenings: 20–30 hrs (Mon–Fri, 3pm–9pm)
 - Weekend Days: 15 hrs (Sat–Sun, shifts between 6am–10pm)
 
Main Duties
- General cleaning of wards, clinical and non-clinical areas, offices, public areas, and toilets
 - Infection control deep cleans as directed by supervisors
 - Safe use of PPE and cleaning equipment in line with procedures
 - Keeping cleaning cupboards and trolleys clean, stocked, and organised
 - Ensuring all equipment is cleaned and sterilised after use
 - Assisting with cleanliness audits and corrective actions
 - Following Health & Safety standards at all times
 
Person Specification
Essential:
- Good spoken and written English; basic maths
 - Ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality
 - Basic Health & Safety knowledge
 - Good interpersonal skills; able to work independently and in a team
 
Desirable:
- GCSE Maths & English
 - Previous cleaning or healthcare environment experience
