The Finance Division is based at the historic Old Aberdeen campus and plays a vital role in supporting the University’s academic and research mission through effective financial management and strategic procurement.

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join the Finance Division. This role will work closely with the Procurement Manager, Finance colleagues, and senior stakeholders across the University.

As a key member of the procurement team, you will lead and support a range of activities, ensuring value for money, compliance with regulations, and delivery of strategic procurement initiatives. The position offers a diverse workload, involving both operational and strategic responsibilities, and regular collaboration with academic, administrative, and technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

As Procurement Specialist, you will:

  • Manage end-to-end procurement for major equipment, works, goods, and services.
  • Conduct detailed spend analyses to identify and deliver strategic opportunities.
  • Apply best practice supplier relationship and contract management techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement regulations and internal policies.
  • Provide professional procurement advice and support to staff across the University.
  • Contribute to operational and strategic planning within the Finance Division.
  • Deliver value-for-money initiatives to maximise the impact of research grants and revenue spend.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Degree-level education.
  • CIPS Level 6 Professional Diploma (MCIPS).
  • High-level expertise in higher education procurement.
  • Comprehensive sector knowledge and experience managing complex, high-value procurement procedures.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and contribute to planning at both operational and strategic levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across departments and with external partners.
