Overview

Are you ready to lead where data governance meets cloud-native innovation, shaping scalable solutions in hybrid environments?

We’re looking for a Data Analyst with the skills and passion to turn complex data models into actionable insights. This is a chance to work with Python, AWS, and modern data standards (XML, JSON, YAML), while making a real impact at StepChange, the UK’s leading debt charity.

What you’ll be doing

  • Mapping how data flows across the organisation—capturing, transforming, and transferring data between domains.
  • Building and maintaining our data catalogue and data dictionary, supporting governance and compliance.
  • Working with architects in agile feature teams on data movement, migration, and integration.
  • Creating documentation (e.g., IFDDs) to keep data flows auditable and transparent.
  • Developing data quality pipelines and toolchains with stewards and owners.
  • Supporting governance forums and shaping data policies, processes, and standards.

About you

You are a data-driven technologist with:

  • Strong experience in relational databases, SQL, and ETL pipelines.
  • Hands-on skills in Python, VS Code, and open-source tools.
  • Knowledge of data modelling (UML, Object-Oriented, ER).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native solutions (ideally AWS).
  • Ability to work with formats such as JSON, XML, YAML.
  • A collaborative mindset, comfortable working in agile teams.

Bonus skills: R, Terraform, Markdown, Mermaid JS.

Why StepChange?

At StepChange, we’re building a data-led future to better support people facing financial challenges. You’ll play a central role in improving how we manage and use data—ensuring it’s reliable, accessible, and impactful.

We value curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning. If you’re excited about shaping the future of data in a mission-driven organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
