Location: Glasgow, Scotland (Hybrid – 2 days onsite)
Salary: £80,000 – £85,000 GBP
Level: Senior |Manager

Travel: Candidates based in Northampton or Radbroke must be willing to travel to Glasgow periodically

Overview

We are seeking a strategic and service-oriented leader to join our client as Head of Data Deployment & Risk Management.
This Vice President-level role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient, and standards-driven change across enterprise data platforms.

This is not a hands-on engineering position. Instead, the successful candidate will design and implement a service transition framework to manage high volumes of change while ensuring operational safety, consistency, and service quality.

The role involves managing an experienced team, initially two Vice Presidents, with scope to expand to ten direct reports as the function scales. Success will be measured by the quality of service delivered to internal engineering teams and stakeholder feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a service transition framework for data platform changes
  • Ensure adherence to consistent standards across change and release processes
  • Oversee risk management and change governance for hundreds of monthly deployments
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define and maintain safe deployment practices
  • Manage and mentor a growing team of experienced professionals
  • Drive continuous improvement in service delivery and operational resilience
  • Support strategic planning and resource allocation across the function

Required Experience

  • Proven experience in change and risk management, preferably within financial services
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies (AWS certification preferred)
  • Familiarity with scaled Agile frameworks and modern testing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience in designing service frameworks and operational processes

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • Risk management certifications
  • Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD practices
  • Experience in service design and transition
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
