Overview
Join the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (MHCLG) as an AWS Infrastructure Engineer within the Cloud Platform team. You will design, manage, and evolve cloud infrastructure supporting UK government digital services.
You’ll work with tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS Security Hub to automate, govern, and secure large-scale multi-account AWS environments. The team operates in a fast-paced, agile environment with high autonomy and a focus on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and improve AWS cloud services and governance.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, and delivery teams.
- Deploy and support cloud-native solutions.
- Automate infrastructure using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Optimise cost, performance, and resilience.
- Participate in incident management and post-incident reviews.
Person Specification
- Hands-on experience with AWS (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, Route 53).
- Experience managing multi-account AWS Organisations.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Understanding of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline).
- AWS Certification (Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer) preferred.
- Experience working in Agile, cross-functional teams.
