 Summary

St Mary’s University is seeking a skilled and motivated IT Project Manager to deliver a range of IT initiatives across the School of Medicine. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who enjoys managing diverse technology projects and driving process improvements within a higher education environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects through the full IT lifecycle — from conception to completion.
  • Prepare project briefs, initiation documents, and delivery plans.
  • Conduct requirements gathering, risk and issue management, and progress reporting.
  • Handle specification writing, contract management, and budget control.
  • Lead projects involving new business applications, system integrations, and technology-driven transformation.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum of five years’ project management experience.
  • Proven record of delivering successful IT projects.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Organised, proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a university or large organisation.
  • Knowledge of tendering processes and managing contractors or suppliers.
