 Description

The University of Glasgow is seeking a Project Officer for the newly established Turner-Kirk Centre for Spatial Reasoning. The Centre leads the STEM SPACE programme — a national initiative introducing spatial reasoning development in Scottish primary schools through mathematics lessons. The goal is to reach 800 schools (40% of all Scottish primaries) across 32 local authorities, helping pupils develop strong foundations for future STEM success. The Project Officer will support the Centre’s operations, coordinate project rollouts across Scotland, manage budgets, and engage with stakeholders including local authorities, educators, and university teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day management and strategic planning of the Turner-Kirk Centre.
  • Coordinate rollout of the STEM SPACE programme with 32 Scottish local authorities.
  • Plan, organise, and deliver Centre events such as summits and conferences.
  • Manage communications, digital platforms, and social media content.
  • Oversee financial management, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and analysis of project success metrics.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners, ensuring smooth collaboration.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Degree (SCQF level 9 or equivalent) with continued professional development.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Scottish school education.
  • Excellent project, financial, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal abilities.

Desirable:

  • Experience with University of Glasgow systems (e.g., Agresso).
  • Project Management qualification (PRINCE2, Agile).
  • Experience within a higher education or research environment.

Experience

  • Proven record in project or research administration.
  • Budget management and financial reporting experience.
  • Data processing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within complex structures.
