Job Summary

Administrative Officers play a vital role by providing administrative support and excellent customer service to court users, judiciary, and management.

About HMCTS

HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil, and family Courts and Tribunals across England and Wales. Our roles impact lives daily, offering the chance to work with purpose in public service.

Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare papers and files for court hearings and meetings
  • Update records and input data using internal systems
  • Accurately interpret and result court hearings
  • Verify documents, claims, and records for accuracy
  • Assemble information for reports and statistical analysis
  • Communicate with the public, judiciary, legal professionals, and external agencies

Skills & Experience

  • Friendly, approachable, and detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks, and work with software tools
  • Customer service focused, helping users navigate the court system

Additional Information

  • Standard working hours: 37 hours/week
  • Minimum part-time hours: 30 hours over 4 days
  • Office-based role due to public-facing duties
  • Flexible and job-sharing arrangements will be considered
  • This role does not meet the new Skilled Worker visa salary threshold unless specific exemptions apply
