 Overview

The Construction Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the coordination of material distribution across designated construction areas. Reporting to the Construction Logistics Lead of their area, this role plays a crucial part in ensuring the effective movement of materials, resolving logistical challenges, and ensuring smooth integration of logistics operations with the construction programme.

The role also serves as a key point of liaison between delivery acceptance teams, construction teams, delivery coordination teams, and outbound logistics from the onsite distribution compound (Initial Delivery Point A – IDPA).

Responsibilities

  • Logistics Coordination: Oversee end-to-end logistics for material distribution within assigned areas, ensuring timely and efficient delivery from the IDPA to work areas.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for consignment acceptance teams, G4S checkpoints, traffic marshallers, and external vendors.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track delivery timelines, compliance, and traffic management performance; provide regular updates to the Construction Logistics Lead.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve logistics bottlenecks or delays, maintaining smooth material flow and adherence to project timelines.
  • Process Improvement: Analyse logistics operations and implement improvements to boost efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with the Construction organisation, HPC Logistics, 3PL partners, and other key stakeholders.

To Succeed, You Will Need:

  • Logistics Expertise: Understanding of distribution logistics, traffic control, and route management in construction.
  • Data Analysis: Skilled in using tools such as Excel to monitor logistics KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Communication: Strong skills to manage relationships with vendors and internal teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve real-time logistical challenges effectively.
  • Risk Management: Awareness of compliance and safety regulations in construction logistics.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, or materials management, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Health & Safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) are beneficial.
  • Experience working in regulated sectors such as nuclear, aerospace, or rail is desirable.
