Overview
We’re transforming one of the last untapped industries where billion-dollar enterprises still rely on pen and paper. Inspections are critical to global safety, yet the technology behind them still mostly functions on manual processes.
Every day, over a million inspectors manually assess infrastructure, factories, and goods using outdated methods — resulting in delays, errors, and billions in losses.
At Scope, we’re using AI to change that. Our product automates inspection reporting and creates a new way to collect and analyze field data. Backed by a $4M pre-seed round from tier-one investors (Stripe, Lime, Discord, Flexport), we’re already working with some of the largest TIC (Testing, Inspection, Certification) companies globally.
About This Role
We’re seeking an AI Product Engineer to ship the next generation of inspection products. You’ll own AI-native features end-to-end — from quick prototypes to production rollouts — and get valuable tools into inspectors’ hands fast.
You’ll work directly with industrial environments (plants, refineries, etc.) to deeply understand user needs and turn decades of domain data into usable software.
What You’ll Do
- Build and ship AI-powered features end-to-end (backend + frontend).
- Integrate leading AI models (LLMs and others) to solve customer problems.
- Develop backend systems in Python (TypeScript a bonus).
- Work closely with inspectors and TIC partners to refine and iterate.
- Ensure quality with sensible defaults, robust error handling, and observability.
- Address unique industrial AI challenges, including technical drawings and complex documents.
- Contribute to a scalable AI-driven reporting layer for industrial data.
Who You Are
- Experienced in shipping AI products end-to-end with user impact.
- Strong backend skills (Python); full-stack with TypeScript a plus.
- Pragmatic: know when to use LLMs or traditional ML.
- Product-minded with a focus on adoption and speed.
- High-agency problem solver who delivers quickly.
- Comfortable testing fast, validating with users, and scaling solutions.
- Can demonstrate measurable impact from past AI product work.
Compensation & Benefits
- £90,000 – £130,000 per year + equity
