Overview
We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Administration Assistant to join the Estates and Facilities Hub Team at NUH.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a professional NHS environment while working towards a nationally recognised Business Administration Level 3 qualification.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Estates and Facilities team, providing high-quality administrative assistance to ensure smooth service delivery.
Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Administration Assistant, you will:
- Provide general administrative support to the Estates and Facilities team.
- Undertake office duties such as answering phones, handling messages, scanning, filing, and managing post.
- Assist in the arrangement and coordination of meetings/events including booking venues and preparing/distributing paperwork.
- Produce accurate correspondence, minutes, and reports (under supervision).
- Develop and maintain administrative support systems, both manual and electronic.
- Support procurement processes, including raising purchase orders and receipting goods/invoices.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail efficiently.
- Ensure a safe, tidy, and organised working environment.
- Work flexibly to cover colleagues during absence, ensuring continuity of service.
Training & Development
This apprenticeship will give you the chance to grow both professionally and personally. Training will include:
- Business Administration Level 3 qualification.
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration.
- Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration.
- Functional Skills (English, Maths, ICT at Level 2).
- Employment responsibilities and rights.

Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
- Functional Skills Level 1 in English, Maths, and ICT (or equivalent).
- Good communication skills, with an understanding of confidentiality.
- Ability to work sensitively with diverse groups of people.
- Strong organisational skills.
Desirable Requirements:
- GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Previous administrative experience.
Additional Information
- Applicants aged 16–17 years and working more than 20 hours per week will need to commence an apprenticeship alongside their role, as per government guidance.
- The role may be subject to a DBS check (cost deducted from first month’s pay).
