Assistant Data Analyst

Location: Grimsby, England
Salary: £27,000 – £30,000

 

About the Role

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Data Analyst to join our Digital, Systems and Information (DSI) team. You’ll help ensure accurate reporting, maintain data quality, and provide insights that support better decision-making across mental health services.

Key Responsibilities

Data & Reporting

  • Run and create reports using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Prepare and check internal/external data returns
  • Produce ad-hoc management reports and information packs
  • Support regular meetings with accurate and timely data
  • Monitor national mental health dashboards and fix discrepancies
  • Work with large datasets, spreadsheets, and data queries

System Support & Data Quality

  • Maintain and improve Navigo’s information systems
  • Resolve issues with the Mental Health Clinical System & Incident Reporting System
  • Investigate national dataset files to improve quality
  • Keep the Data Quality Maturity Index at a high level
  • Extract and analyse patient clinical records

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work with internal teams (Digital, Quality, Clinical Leads)
  • Liaise with external partners: TPP SystmOne, NHS England, and regional ICBs
  • Explain complex data to non-technical colleagues clearly

Administration & Support

  • Provide cover during staff leave (minutes, agendas, action logs)
  • Prepare engaging presentations
  • Assist with admin tasks when required

Planning & Policy

  • Ensure compliance with governance, legislation, and data standards
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Contribute to project reviews and lessons learned
  • Develop systems to support new initiatives

Training & Development

  • Support colleagues with advice and system use
  • Identify training needs and work with trainers to fill gaps

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong skills in SQL and Excel
  • Confident working with large datasets
  • Ability to present data clearly to technical and non-technical staff
  • Knowledge of NHS data standards (desirable)
  • Organised, detail-focused, and good at prioritising
  • Excellent communication skills
