The Role
This is an exciting Business Analyst career development opportunity in the Joint Surrey Police & Sussex Police Change Delivery Department. You will support the Operation Solve Programme, which is reviewing areas of the policing model and delivering business change and technology-enabled projects aimed at improving public service provision.
We welcome applications from experienced Business Analysts, individuals looking to transition into this field, or those already working in policing seeking a new career direction. Training towards a BCS Business Analysis Certification will be provided, with coaching and portfolio development leading to promotion opportunities.
Responsibilities
Working under the direction of Programme and Project Managers, you will:
- Manage tasks and schedules of programmes, projects and workstreams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into clear requirements.
- Support the development of scorecards, dashboards, and reports (Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
- Evaluate solution options within the policing framework.
- Identify risks and issues from research and best practices, recommending corrective actions.
- Undertake business process analysis to identify improvements and efficiencies.
- Collaborate with teams to understand data needs and deliver insights.
- Perform data analysis on change impacts (demand, performance, costs, training, skills, risks).
- Present analysis to stakeholders in accessible formats.
- Provide cost/benefit analysis to support effective public fund spending.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in business change or continuous improvement.
- Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Customer-focused with an understanding of organisational goals.
- Team-oriented and results-driven.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to work with integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism under pressure.

Further Information
This role is part of a collaborative unit between Surrey Police and Sussex Police. Employment terms will depend on which Force you are appointed to.
- Grade G salary range: £33,128 – £39,149 plus £4,000 p.a. market supplement
- Grade H salary range (for exceptional candidates): £38,064 – £45,058 plus £4,000 p.a. market supplement
You will be required to attend Surrey Police Headquarters in Guildford two days per week, with some travel to Lewes HQ and other sites. Hybrid remote working is supported.
