We are seeking a Business Development Manager to join the ISIS Neutron and Muon Facility — a world-leading centre for research in the physical and life sciences. ISIS produces beams of neutrons and muons that help scientists study materials at the atomic level, supporting a community of over 3,000 visiting scientists annually.
The role involves working with scientific and engineering staff to connect industry challenges with the facility’s unique capabilities, fostering impactful relationships and driving collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Engagement: Identify and pursue new business opportunities across government, industry, and research sectors.
- Pipeline Development: Build and manage a robust business pipeline aligned with ISIS’s strategic priorities.
- Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong internal and external relationships to support business development.
- Opportunity Development: Collaborate with technical teams to develop business cases and funding proposals.
- Market Intelligence: Track trends and align initiatives with the UK Government Industrial Strategy.
- Reporting: Monitor engagement metrics and report progress to senior leadership.
- Advocacy: Represent ISIS and STFC nationally and internationally, promoting their mission and capabilities.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong background in technical business development with proven measurable impact.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts effectively.
- Excellent networking and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong communication, bid writing, and presentation abilities.
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- A proactive, self-starting attitude and the ability to see projects through to completion.
Travel within the UK and occasionally overseas will be required.
