Business Support Analyst III

About the Role
The Business Support Analyst III helps deliver contracted Business-As-Usual (BAU) support services, typically adhering to the ITIL v4 framework across Service Operations, Service Transition, and Continuous Service Improvement.
This role is for an experienced professional with 5+ years in IT development and/or support who can provide exemplary service to Verisk Specialty Business Solutions’ (VSBS) valued clients. Analysts in this position are expected to become subject matter experts in specific business or product areas, lead others through complex issues, and use their expertise to ensure efficient resolution of client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and execute departmental processes while driving service improvements and efficiency initiatives.
- Lead a team (non-line management) in investigating and resolving complex application and system issues.
- Use IT Service Management tooling to capture and process incident and service request requirements.
- Escalate issues to Technical Support, Development, or Service Delivery teams as needed.
- Maintain expert knowledge of Sequel products and client business processes.
- Ensure accurate understanding of client environments and create knowledge base/help articles.
- Prioritise and manage issues according to business impact and service level agreements.
- Attend client meetings, provide training, and occasionally work from client sites.
- Lead service transition activities for projects moving to BAU support.
- Ensure client data is secure and risks are properly managed.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or similar field.
- 3+ years in a customer-facing software support role.
- Strong communication skills (both technical and non-technical).
- Strong problem-solving skills across business and technical issues.
- Expertise in a business area or Sequel product domain.
- Ability to lead others in problem resolution.
- Understanding of relational databases, server architecture, and SQL query writing.
- Strong grasp of IT development, risk management, and governance.
Desirable
- 5+ years in software support, ideally in the insurance sector (especially London Market).
- Strong SQL database query writing skills.
- Experience with SQL Server Management Studio / Profiler.
- Exposure to IIS, CSS, XML, JavaScript.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
