Our Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAPs)
As a Care Home Assistant Practitioner in our company, you are at the forefront of a new way of working for our homes. This role is ideal for individuals with over two years’ experience and with, or willing to work towards, an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care. You will take on a higher level of responsibility and reward.
Stow Healthcare CHAPs combine caring activities with an extended range of clinical skills, such as administering medication and delivering minor wound care. CHAPs always have the support of the Registered Nurses in our homes. You will also help to lead and supervise staff, providing opportunities to further develop your management skills.
The Skills You’ll Need
- Minimum 24 months’ care experience, ideally in a supervisory position, in an adult care home or NHS setting
- Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care and working towards Level 3 (or willing to achieve within 12–18 months)
- Desire to develop your career in care
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Caring and empathetic nature with a focus on delivering quality care
- Computer literacy, good literacy and numeracy skills, and problem-solving ability
- Flexible approach to working hours, including on-call duties
The Training You Will Benefit From
We offer an intensive learning programme tailored to the challenges of the role. Training is delivered face to face by a qualified clinician. Within around three months, you should complete your training and feel confident to carry out your role effectively once your competency is assessed.
