We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused individual who understands the important connections between food and the environment to join the team at RSPB Leighton Moss near Carnforth in north Lancashire.

About the Role
We are recruiting for a part-time Centre Assistant, primarily working in the café and occasionally in the shop. Regular weekend and bank holiday working is required.
- Part-time hours: Typically 12–20 hours per week across 3–5 shifts
- Minimum guaranteed hours: 4 hours per week
- Additional hours: Available to cover holidays, sickness, and peak periods
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Centre Assistant, you will:
- Support the day-to-day operations of our busy café
- Work closely with a passionate team of staff and volunteers
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Serve customers, handle cash, and operate the till
- Prepare and serve high-quality food and drink
- Maintain café stock levels and cleanliness
- Follow food hygiene and safety protocols
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Basic food hygiene knowledge
- Comfortable using tills and computers
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads
- Strong customer service focus
- Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
Desirable (but not essential):
- Prior experience in catering or hospitality
- Passion for nature and sustainability
