Clerk Typist

Salary: £24,000
Hours: 22.5 per week (Band 2)
Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerk Typist to join the Cardiology Department within the Speciality Medicine Collaborative at Cumberland Infirmary.
This role is crucial to the efficient day-to-day delivery of the service, supporting Consultants and Nurse Practitioners with high-quality typing and administration. As you will often be the first point of contact for patients, a professional and patient-focused approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate typing support (50–60 WPM) for letters and documents
- Liaise with clinical teams, patients, NHS Trusts, and external agencies
- Deliver administrative support to the department
- Maintain professionalism as the first point of contact for patients
Requirements
- GCSEs (minimum C Grade)
- RSA Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 in Administration (or equivalent)
- Recent or relevant typing/administration experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
