Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Critical Care Nurse to join Brighton Critical Care, a brand-new 31-bedded unit located in the state-of-the-art Louisa Martindale Building.

The unit offers beautiful views of the sea and countryside and is based in Brighton, one of the UK’s most vibrant coastal cities. This role is ideal for an ICU nurse with an accredited Critical Care qualification who is ready to take on a leadership role within a friendly and supportive team.

Brighton Critical Care is a major trauma centre and the tertiary referral unit within the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Network. Some cross-site working is required at Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate evidence-based care for critically ill Level 2 and Level 3 patients
  • Act as shift leader and support nursing staff
  • Mentor, support and assess colleagues’ clinical skills
  • Promote practice development within Critical Care
  • Participate in audit, quality improvement and project work
  • Support shift coordination and development reviews alongside or in the absence of the Band 7 Nurse

Essential Criteria

  • Registered Nurse with NMC registration
  • Experience as a Band 5 nurse in Critical Care
  • Completion of an accredited ICU / Critical Care course
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and delegation skills
  • Up-to-date clinical knowledge and excellent communication skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in Neurosurgery
  • Evidence of involvement in quality improvement initiatives

This role is eligible for UK Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, subject to meeting UK Visas & Immigration requirements, including relevant skill level, salary threshold and role-specific criteria.
