Overview
M-KOPA is looking for a Data Analyst to support our mission of building transformative lifetime financial partnerships with millions of customers across Africa. In this role, you will directly influence customer access to credit by developing and refining our underwriting frameworks. You’ll work within a small, high-impact team and collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, product teams, and commercial stakeholders across multiple markets.
What You’ll Do
- Analyse repayments and alternative data to improve loan eligibility and manage credit risk
- Refine pricing based on customer behaviour and credit trends
- Test new loan types to assess demand and portfolio performance
- Monitor credit performance to detect early risk signals
- Evaluate new datasets for eligibility modelling
- Use Python, SQL, and analytical tools to generate insights
- Work with data scientists to integrate ML models into underwriting decisions
What You’ll Bring
- Several years in analytical roles
- Strong statistical modelling and quantitative analysis skills
- Fluency in Python and SQL
- Ability to interpret complex data and convert insights into strategy
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, visual)
- Experience collaborating with engineering, product, and commercial teams
- Nice to have: experience in credit, lending, or underwriting analytics
- Must be located within UTC −1 to UTC +3
