Data Analyst III

Location: Huntington, WV

Reports To: Director of Data Analytics, Marshall Health Network

Overview

The Data Analyst III plays a key role in driving data-informed decision-making across Marshall Health Network. You will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and presenting operational, financial, and clinical performance data that supports strategic goals at every level of the organization.

This role focuses on transforming data into information, information into insight, and insight into action — empowering leadership to make measurable, evidence-based decisions.

 Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert in analytical methods and data strategy.
  • Lead and support system and project implementations across departments.
  • Promote a data-driven culture within the organization.
  • Deliver actionable insights aligned with KPIs and strategic goals.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance analytic tools and dashboards.
  • Oversee initiatives to improve clinical and financial performance metrics.
  • Mentor junior analysts, sharing best practices and technical skills.
  • Participate in committees to enhance data governance and innovation.
  • Support data modeling, ETL, and visualization initiatives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging data technologies.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in data analysis or reporting.
  • Strong background in statistics, math, and data modeling.
  • Experience within a healthcare or clinical data environment is preferred.

Technical Skills Required

  • Advanced SQL (Cerner CCL experience preferred).
  • ETL / Data Pipeline Tools: SSIS, dbt, or similar.
  • Visualization Tools: Tableau, Power BI, DA2, Business Objects.
  • Programming: Python or R for data manipulation and API retrieval (FHIR knowledge preferred).
  • Experience with data warehouse design and Snowflake procedures.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and data storytelling skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ambulatory software or clinical information systems.
  • Understanding of enterprise data management best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.

Work Setting

This position offers flexibility to work remotely, with occasional in-person collaboration as needed.
