Salary: £80,000 – £85,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Location: Hybrid – London (1 day per week)

 

Overview

We are currently looking for a Data Engineer to join our client’s forward-thinking, collaborative, and technology-driven team. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering modern, cloud-native data solutions while working closely with a highly skilled Data & BI function.

Reporting into the Manager of Global Enterprise Data & BI, this is a hands-on role focused on designing scalable architectures, modernising legacy pipelines, and mentoring data engineers across the business.

As a Senior / Lead Data Engineer, you will architect and implement enterprise-grade solutions across Azure Synapse Analytics and Microsoft Fabric, helping to define the future of a global data ecosystem.  Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor internal and external data engineering teams
  • Design, build, and optimise data platforms using Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and Lakehouse architectures
  • Modernise ETL/ELT processes and migrate workloads to cloud-native tooling
  • Develop scalable data pipelines, Spark processing, and dataflows
  • Implement governance, security, and compliance standards
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support analytics and Power BI initiatives
  • Produce technical documentation and design artefacts

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience leading cloud-based data engineering initiatives
  • Strong expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Engineering workloads)
  • Advanced SQL skills (T-SQL, Synapse SQL, Lakehouse SQL)
  • Experience with Python and/or Spark
  • Knowledge of ADLS Gen2, Delta Lake, and Parquet
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance
