Data Engineer – Remote (UK Only)
We are looking for a Data Engineer to help strengthen the data foundations that power decision-making across First Bus.
You’ll be part of our central Data & Analytics team, building robust pipelines and models that support reporting, analytics, and data science use cases. This role is ideal for someone with a few years of engineering experience who enjoys collaborating with others and making an impact by improving how data flows across a complex organisation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and SQL
- Create clean, well-structured datasets (fact/dimension models) for reporting and analysis
- Modernise and maintain our data warehouse
- Translate requirements into reliable data models in collaboration with analysts and scientists
- Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot failed loads, and resolve data quality issues
- Support governance by documenting pipelines, applying naming conventions, and ensuring consistency
- Work closely with the wider Data & Analytics team to align on standards and priorities
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases
- Experience with at least one of Python or R
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (ideally Azure)
- Collaborative working style with strong communication skills
- A mindset focused on reliability, maintainability, and usability of datasets
