TRAFFIC is a leading international NGO working to ensure that global trade in wild species is legal and sustainable. Based in Cambridge, UK, we provide worldwide leadership, evidence, and solutions to combat illegal and unsustainable wildlife trade, supporting biodiversity conservation and a nature-positive future.

The Role

TRAFFIC has developed the Wildlife Trade Information System (WiTIS) to store, process, and analyse trade-related data.

As a Data Support Officer, you will:

  • Enter and maintain accurate wildlife trade data in WiTIS.
  • Ensure data consistency and standardisation across sources.
  • Support market monitoring, research, and data analysis.
  • Provide support and training to other data staff.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of WiTIS.

Salary Range: £27,869 – £34,836 (depending on skills and experience).

Requirements

  • Eligible to live and work in the UK (in-person role, Cambridge office).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in data collection/collation (preferably using relational databases).
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets and database systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify connections within data.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Interest in conservation, particularly trade issues.
  • Fluency in English (other languages an advantage).
