 Overview

We are seeking a Dev Ops Apprentice to support the development of Web and Desktop systems within SFRS. You’ll work closely with the DaTS Business Services Team across the entire software development lifecycle.

Assessment Centre: 30th October at Headquarters, Westburn Dr, Cambuslang, Glasgow G72 7NA

 Responsibilities

  • Learn to review and investigate bugs and user issues
  • Assist with patching, testing, and maintaining applications and systems
  • Gain experience designing secure, large-scale software systems
  • Support bug fixing, testing, upgrades, release management, and security practices
  • Produce technical documentation and user guides
  • Complete training to achieve:
    • Diploma in Digital Applications Support (SCQF Level 6)
    • Progression to Diploma Digital Technology: Software Development (SCQF Level 8)

Essential Skills

  • National 4 Maths & English (or equivalent)
  • Higher Computing (or equivalent)
  • Confident, motivated, and enthusiastic
  • Proactive problem solver and keen learner
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork and independent working ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Honest, organised, and creative

Desirable Skills

  • National 5 Maths & English (or equivalent)
  • Interest in a career in DaTS
  • Knowledge of coding and software development
  • Driving licence / willingness to travel across Scotland

Salary: £22,129 per annum
Working hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
