About the Role
We are recruiting for a DevOps Engineer to join our Assessment API team at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation, and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
In this role, you’ll design, implement, maintain, and evolve our AWS-based infrastructure. You’ll be instrumental in driving reliability, scalability, and efficiency for our English language assessment APIs and related products.
You will work closely with the development team, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with AWS and Terraform to automate operations, enhance security, and support rapid delivery of innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure (IaC, primarily Terraform).
- Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines for safe, reliable, frequent deployments.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems (CloudWatch, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Partner with development teams to foster a DevOps culture.
- Manage backup and disaster recovery processes for business continuity.
- Apply and maintain security best practices across environments.
- Automate processes with Bash or Python scripts.
- Document infrastructure configurations and mentor colleagues.
- Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response.
About You

- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience with AWS cloud services and Terraform.
- CI/CD pipeline design and optimisation.
