Overview

Lancashire County Council’s Children and Family Wellbeing Service (CFW) provides early help and support to children, young people (0–19 years, or up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities), and their families across Lancashire. Our aim is to minimize disadvantage and ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time.

As a Family Support Worker in the Family Intensive Support team (FIS), you will:

  • Assess the needs of children, young people, and families using the Early Help Assessment Framework and ‘Team Around the Family’ methodology.
  • Deliver agreed interventions to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Manage a caseload of children and families with unmet needs, sometimes involving complex and enduring cases.
  • Record casework accurately in line with professional recording standards.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency early help partners to ensure children and families are safe, healthy, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support families through one-to-one sessions and group interventions.
  • Help children, young people, and families build on strengths and protective factors.
  • Monitor progress and outcomes for families and report appropriately.
  • Liaise with other professionals and agencies to ensure coordinated support.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience working with children, young people, and families is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage complex cases and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
