Overview
Liverpool City Council is recruiting an Empty Homes Grant Support Officer to join its Private Sector Housing Service on a permanent basis. The role sits within the Empty Homes Team, which focuses on reducing public health risks caused by vacant properties and bringing empty homes back into use across the city.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to community wellbeing while supporting a high-impact housing initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the Empty Homes Grant Scheme
- Respond to enquiries and process grant applications
- Coordinate with landlords, contractors, and internal council teams
- Provide comprehensive office administration and case management support
- Deliver high-quality customer service
- Ensure grants are delivered on time and in line with compliance requirements
- Support the successful reoccupation of renovated properties
About the Grant Scheme
The Empty Homes Grant Scheme provides grants of £5,000 to £20,000 to landlords to renovate vacant properties. Renovated homes are then occupied by tenants nominated by Liverpool City Council.

Eligibility and Right to Work
