Job description
We are looking for Healthcare Assistants to join our Hospice at Home Team. These are community-based roles working in patients’ homes across Cambridgeshire, based from our Hospice in Cambridge. We have full-time and part-time positions available and are happy to discuss working hours at interview.
Main Duties
Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for a full list of duties. Contact us if you would like any further information.
Role
The Hospice at Home service cares for patients across Cambridgeshire who choose to remain in their own home during the last weeks of life. We are holistic in our approach, tailoring care to each person’s specific needs. Our compassionate team of Nurses and Healthcare Assistants provide both practical and emotional support to patients and their families in the comfort of their own homes.
You will work directly with patients and families, typically alone in the home, on a shift basis over 7 days.
Our Hospice at Home (HaH) team covers a wide geographical area—from Tydd St Giles in the north to Saffron Walden in the south. While you’ll be allocated to either the South team (Cambridge) or North team (Wisbech), colleagues work flexibly as one team to meet patient needs across the region.
- We offer mileage reimbursement above HMRC rates and a lease car option.
- While we try to allocate patients near your location, flexibility is required.
- You’ll need previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital or community setting.
- This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with Adult and Child Barred lists.
Starting salary: £24,570, with opportunities to progress to £26,188.
Please note: salary is based on full-time hours and will be pro-rata for part-time roles. New starters typically begin on the minimum of the pay scale unless exceptional relevant experience is demonstrated.

We offer a range of benefits, including the option to retain NHS Pension scheme membership (subject to conditions). Other benefits include:
- NHS-matched annual leave
- Enhancements for unsociable hours
- Family-friendly leave policies
- Lease car scheme
- Employee Assistance Programmes

- Discounts at our onsite bistro
- Free on-site parking
